Minister for Industries and Commerce T.G. Bharath on Monday (November 24, 2025) instructed the authorities at the Government General Hospital to provide the best treatment to patients and not inconvenience them by asking them to purchase medicines or undergo diagnostic tests outside the hospital.
Chairing the Kurnool GGH and Medical College Development Committee meeting, at the hospital on Monday, Mr. Bharath asked officials to use advanced software and ensure paperless medical services to the patients. He instructed officials to procure the required computers and printers and also provide staff training on how to use the software.
He stated that the doctors, who studied at the Kurnool Medical College and are now abroad, have come forward to establish a Knowledge Centre at an estimated cost of ₹50 crore and asked the College management to allocate suitable land for the same. During the meeting, the Minister called the APSPDCL officials over phone and instructed them to allot an electrical engineer to GGH and take steps to ensure there is no disruption to electricity and provide automatic power supply through generator in case of power outage.
Mr. Bharath asked GGH superintendent Dr. Venkateswarlu to submit a report on the required number of computers, printers, and equipment for the eye hospital, the accounts of ₹20 crore funds allotted to the Cancer Hospital, and the building for attendants of the patients.
Dr. Venkateswarlu briefed the Minister regarding the arrangements for vehicle parking, installation of CCTVs, pipelines for supply of oxygen, jungle clearance works, and the 50-bedded critical care ward. He further said that two dialysis machines have been provided to the hospital, and Anna Canteen is being run in a hygienic manner and the RO plant installed is maintained properly. Kurnool Medical College Principal Dr. Chittinarsamma was also present in the meeting.
On the occasion, the hospital management felicitated Mr. Bharath for getting ₹41 lakh sanctioned from TGV Foundation for construction of four Payment Blocks with modern facilities for the benefit of patients.
