Tourism Minister R. Rajendran on Saturday (December 6, 2025) handed over welfare assistance worth ₹14.04 crore to 5,664 beneficiaries in Salem on the death anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

The assistance was through 24 schemes under 17 Departments. Bank loans and poverty alleviation funds were offered through the Magalir Thittam, apartment houses were provided by the Adi Dravidar Welfare Department, plants and seeds were distributed by the Tribal Welfare Department, welfare assistance was disbursed under the Chief Minister’s Adi Dravidar and Socio-Economic Entrepreneurship Scheme (CM-ARISE) through TAHDCO, and assistance was provided under the Nannilam Women’s Land Ownership Scheme.

The beneficiaries included those who had received patta and new ration cards. Similarly, cattle maintenance loans were provided by the Cooperative Department, subsidy assistance under the Annal Ambedkar Business Champions Scheme (AABCS) by the District Industries Centre, and vermicompost distributed by the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department.

The Minister also inaugurated the Thathampatti Village Administrative Officer’s office constructed at a cost of ₹11.20 lakh.

At a function held in Dharmapuri, District Collector R. Sadheesh distributed welfare assistance worth ₹75.43 crore to 6,114 beneficiaries, including land patta, crop loans, and agriculture equipment.
