Tourism Minister R. Rajendran participated in a special ward sabha meeting held at ward 30 of the Salem Corporation here on Monday (October 27, 2025).

The special area sabha meetings were held in Salem Corporation on Monday to fulfil the basic demands of the ward. In the meeting held at Saibaba Street in Ward 30 in Hasthampatti zone, the Minister participated  and received petitions from the public.

The Minister said that the Chief Minister has instructed to conduct these meetings from October 27 to 29. In the meeting held at ward 30, instructions were given to raise awareness among the public on keeping the city clean. People shall be given the estimation for basic amenities required, and their demand will be forwarded to the government, which will consider and fulfil it.

The Chief Minister during his visit to Salem on June 12 distributed welfare assistance and announced ₹100 crore in funds for Salem Corporation for the stormwater drainage works and redevelopment of roads. The Corporation is working to complete these works, the Minister added.

The Salem Corporation officials said sabha meetings were conducted in 52 wards out of 60 in Salem Corporation. Meetings will be held for seven wards on Tuesday (October 28, 2025) and for one ward on Wednesday (October 29, 2025).

District Collector R. Brindha Devi, Salem MP T.M. Selvaganapathi, Corporation Commissioner M. Elangovan, Corporation councillors, and officials also participated.
