A 10-year-old girl drowned in a pond at Murattu Solagampatti in the district on Sunday. The police gave the name of the deceased as V. Tharanika who was a Class V student.
The police said the girl accompanied her father and her elder sister to take bath in the pond in the afternoon when she drowned. The body was subsequently retrieved. The Gandarvakottai police are investigating.
