Moderate to heavy rain recorded in Tirupati, Chittoor districts

Tirupati received heavy rainfall due to the cyclonic storm Ditwah on Tuesday (December 02, 2025), even as the deep depression, remnant of the storm, weakened into a depression.

While Mallam in Tirupati district recorded the day’s highest of 96.5 mm, Chittamur, Allampadu, Vidyanagar, Tada all in the same district, received 95.75 mm, 70 mm, 61.25 mm and 59 mm respectively. Palasamudram in Chittoor district also received 92 mm and Kakarlamudi in Eluru district received 50 mm. Light showers were also recorded in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, Kakinada and West Godavari districts. There were very light showers in Nellore district.

According to the Cyclone Warning Centre (CWC), Visakhapatnam, India Meteorological Centre, the deep depression over west-central and southwest Bay of Bengal and North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh coasts recurved slowly south-westwards and weakened into a depression at 5.30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Thereafter, it moved slowly south-westwards and remained about 40 km east-southeast of Chennai and 190 km south-southeast of Nellore. It is very likely to continue to move towards north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts and maintain its intensity of depression. It is likely to weaken into a well-marked low pressure by Wednesday morning (December 03).
