Monsoon preparedness reviewed in Mylapore ahead of expected rains

With rains forecast for next week, Health Minister Ma. Subramanian on Wednesday chaired a review meeting with officials from various departments on monsoon preparedness at the Mylapore Assembly constituency in Raja Annamalaipuram.

The Minister reviewed works taken up in wards 121 to 126 and 171, including storm-water drain construction and desilting operations.

Deputy Mayor M. Magesh Kumaar, officials from the Greater Chennai Corporation, Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Public Works Department, Water Resources Department, Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, and Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority, along with elected representatives, were present.

According to Corporation data, over the past four years, 267 bituminous roads, 34 cement concrete roads, and 14 paver block roads have been laid in the constituency.

Of the 1,285 metres of storm-water drains planned, s have been completed. Desilting of 48.62 km of drains and 2,432 silt catch pits has been carried out.
