The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, ordered by the Election Commission of India, would be carried out in the nine Assembly constituencies in Tiruchi district from November 4 to December 4.
The exercise would be carried out with January 1, 2026 as the qualifying date, according to an official press release from the district administration.
Disclosing this at a consultative meeting with representatives of recognised political parties here on Wednesday, Collector V. Saravanan said an exclusive app had been developed and would be used for the exercise.
Over 2,500 booth level officers (BLOs) would be involved in carrying out the exercise in the district. The BLOs would go door-to-door to issue the enumeration forms to existing voters. Voters would have to fill the forms in duplicate and hand them back to the BLOs when they visited the households again to collect the forms. Voters would also have to affix the latest colour photograph in the forms.
The draft electoral rolls would be prepared and notified based on the enumeration. If there were objections or requests for changes, they would be received in the stipulated forms. After verification of such claims, the final draft rolls would be published, Mr.Saravanan said.
The draft electoral rolls would be published on December 9. Objections /representations would be received from December 9 to January 8. The final electoral rolls would be published on February 7, 2026, Mr. Saravanan said and appealed to the political parties to extend their full cooperation for the smooth conduct of the revision.
