Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to take necessary preventive measures based on lessons learned from previous cyclones, as cyclone Montha advances toward the Andhra Pradesh coast. Reviewing the situation through the RTGS Command Centre, the Chief Minister stressed on the need for utmost vigilance in all vulnerable districts.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Ministers Nara Lokesh, V. Anitha, P. Narayana, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, and senior officials from various departments participated in the review meeting. Officials informed the Chief Minister that the cyclone is moving closer to land and has already begun to impact coastal districts.
Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds were reported in Kakinada, Machilipatnam, Visakhapatnam, and other regions.
The Chief Minister directed that National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams be deployed in Kakinada and surrounding areas where landfall is expected. He also instructed authorities to forecast wind and rainfall intensity in advance and take appropriate precautionary measures.
Officials briefed that heavy rains are likely to lash Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, and Nellore districts. The Chief Secretary assured that all district Collectors in the affected areas have been placed on full alert to ensure effective disaster management and public safety.
