Collector R. Sukumar on Wednesday said that Booth Level Officers had distributed more than 89% of enumeration forms for Special Intensive Revision to voters in the district.
Speaking to reporters here after chairing a meeting with representatives of recognised political parties on SIR 2025, Dr. Sukumar said of the 14,18,325 voters in the district, the enumeration forms had been distributed to 12,73,808 voters in Tirunelveli Assembly constituency (2,62,032), Ambasamudram (2,45,668), Palayamkottai (2,47,049), Nanguneri (2,78,657) and Radhapuram (2,40,402), which accounted for 89.81% of distribution of the forms.
After getting the completed forms from the electorate, the Booth Level Officers were uploading them via BLO App. While collecting the filled-in forms, the BLOs would issue acknowledgement on the copy of the forms and colour photo of the voter.
After the uploading, the Electoral Registration Officer would prepare the draft electoral roll of the particular constituency. Voters whose names were not enrolled in the draft electoral roll should submit their claims or objections with the Electoral registration Officer or District Election Officer or the Chief Electoral Officer for inclusion of their names.
Those who could not submit their filled-in forms before the deadline of December 4 can also submit their claims or objections with the Electoral Registration Officer along with Form 6 with the declaration. The Electoral Registration Officer or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer would also visit voluntarily the houses to cross-check the information furnished in the form.
Voters can file appeals with the District Election Officer / District Collector if they were not satisfied with the inquiry by the Electoral Registration Officer or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer for non-inclusion of the names in the electoral roll. The second appeal can be submitted with the Chief Electoral Officer for inclusion of name in the electoral roll, Dr. Sukumar said.
The Collector reiterated that the BLOs had been instructed to be impartial during the enumeration process.
District Revenue Officer M. Durai, who assumed office on Wednesday after his predecessor M. Suganya’s transfer, Sub-Collector, Cheranmahadevi, Ayush Gupta and Revenue Divsiional Officer, Tirunelveli, Priya were present.
