A 35-year-old motorist was hit and run over by a speeding truck laden with m-sand near Thirumukkudal in Uthiramerur, Kancheepuram district on Tuesday.

The villagers gathered before the Salavakkam Police station demanding action to prevent repeated road accidents in the area due to the negligence of the owner of the lorry and stone quarry.

The victim has been identified as S. Sakthivel, 35, a mason from Thirumukkoodal. On Tuesday, he was travelling with a relative to pick up his child from school when a lorry carrying sand hit him.
