BJP MP Jagadish Shettar has directed officials to speed up all pending works in Belagavi district.

At a review meeting here on Wednesday, he asked officials to complete road works on priority in Belagavi and surrounding areas, to prepare for the Winter Session of the State Legislature.

He also asked them to take up regular cleaning of roads, drains and public places.

He told officers of Smart City projects and the Saundatti Yallamma Temple Development Authority that he has received complaints about delay in completion of some works.

Smart City managing director B. Shubha said that 104 of the 108 works taken up under the mission have been completed at a cost of ₹990 crore.

However, four works worth ₹60 crore are pending, she said.

The MP asked officials to speed up these works. The MP asked officers to look into the reasons behind the delay in implementing the solid waste management project at a cost of ₹135 crore.

He asked them to start work at the earliest.

Mr. Shettar said that shops in the Kala Mandir Art Complex in Tilakwadi have not been allotted yet. He expressed concern saying that delay can lead to damage and wastage.

He asked officers to take steps to allot them, including calling for fresh tenders, if required. He asked officers to complete the process of completing the new bus stand project and transfer some adjoining land from Cantonment Board to the Belagavi City Corporation.

Officials said that ₹24 crore has been sanctioned under the Central government’s AMRUT Scheme for the rejuvenation of seven lakes and parks in the city.

Mr. Shettar asked Tourism Development officers to start the process of calling for tenders for the Yallamma Temple Development Project estimated at ₹118 crore.
