Tirunelveli MP C. Robert Bruce on Thursday reviewed the progress of Central projects under implementation in the district at the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting held at the Collectorate here.

The Centre funds 33 types of development projects, particularly for rural areas, such as Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme, Jaljeevan Scheme, MP Local Area Development Programme, micro irrigation scheme, crop insurance scheme and housing scheme and the progress of the schemes was reviewed.
“Since the development schemes are being implemented for the uplift of rural areas, I urge the officials to give utmost priority to implementation of these schemes at the earliest with superior quality for the betterment of the target groups,” Mr. Robert Bruce said.
As the officials presented statistical data on the progress of each projects, Dr. Sukumar pulled up the departments that had failed to achieve the targets set by the Collector in the previous DISHA meeting.
Corporation Commissioner Monika Rana, District Revenue Officer M. Suganya, Deputy Director of Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve’s Ambasamudram Division Srikanth, Project Director of District Rural Development Agency Saravanan participated in the meeting.
