The Muhurthakaal Naduthal puja (the ceremony of installation of a holy wooden pole) was held at the Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy temple on Friday in connection with the Vaikunta Ekadasi festival to be held in December.
The ceremony was held in front of the thousand pillar mandapam within the temple precincts in the morning.
Vaikunta Ekadasi celebrations begin at the temple on December 19 with the Thirunedunthaandagam. The festival is split into Pagal Pathu and Ira Pathu. The Pagal Pathu begins on December 20. The highlight of the festival is the opening of the “Paramapadhavaasal” in the early hours on December 30, the day of Vaikunta Ekadasi. The festival concludes with the ‘Nammazhwar Moksham’ on January 9.
