About 1,000 people belonging to the Muslim community, including women, gathered in Ramanathapuram on Saturday to remember the Babri Masjid demolition on December 6, 1992, as ‘black day.’

The remembrance steered by Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) voiced out against the injustice that the Muslim people faced during the time of demolition.

MLA P. Abdul Samad of Manithaneya Makkal Katchi, spoke against the darkest days of history which witnessed the downfall of one of the oldest and historic structure belonging to Muslims.

The demolition, the following verdict, and the construction of Ram temple, were all parts of history which can never be forgotten and will forever be etched in the rotten memory of the country, he added.

Similarly, SDPI and Indian Towheed Jamath during the remembrance event in the district slammed the BJP government for promoting and supporting communal politics aimed particularly at minorities in the country.

However, the protesters, asserted, the life and the freedom granted to them by the Indian Constitution would never fail them. “We as the citizens of the country will never allow the communal forces to take over the secular nature of our Constitution,” they added.
