My statement was misconstrued against TVK leader Vijay: Premallatha Vijayakant

“My statement on ‘a mushroom that sprouted yesterday will not thrive’ was misconstrued as against actor and TVK leader Vijay,” said DMDK general secretary Premallatha Vijayakant.

Speaking at a public rally in Sivaganga on Friday, she added, her statement was wrongly understood and used to target Vijay whom she sees as one from her house. “Five new parties have emerged why should it not be any one of them,” she questioned.

Clarifying on the confusion that arose regarding allocation of Rajya Sabha seat to DMDK, Ms. Premallatha Vijayakant, said, “AIADMK leader Edapaddi K Palaniswami promised that the DMDK will definitely be given a Rajya Sabha MP seat in 2026, but we thought they would give it in 2025. That’s why the confusion arose.”

But for now, she added, they would not say that DMDK were in an alliance with them.”

“This election will certainly put an end to all the problems prevailing in Tamil Nadu. Vote theft should not happen. The DMDK is firm on that,” she added.

She said, that the Union government must explain the reason for rejecting the Coimbatore and Madurai Metro Rail projects. “Only if that project is implemented will the cities develop. We cannot say generally that nothing is happening during the DMK regime. We can give them 50 marks for fulfilling their promises,” she added.

“It is difficult for any State government to implement schemes without the support of the Union government. Therefore, both governments must work together,” she noted.

Speaking in Ramanathapuram, she said, if their party or their alliance party wins in the upcoming Assembly elections, their first priority would be open a government boys higher secondary school in the district .

Also, increasing employment opportunities in the district was the need of hour, she asserted.

Many other civic issues like improper implementation of underground drainage works, poor condition of roads, drinking water scarcity, among others would be rectified.
