A six-year-old girl was found dead in a well at Nambala village in Dandepalli mandal of Mancherial district on Thursday, three days after she had gone missing under mysterious circumstances from Dandepalli mandal headquarters.
The incident sent shockwaves in Dandepalli, sparking outrage among local residents over the suspected kidnap-cum-murder even as mystery shrouded her tragic death. The deceased was identified as Mahanvita, a native of Dandepalli.
She went missing while playing near her house on Monday evening. Her parents launched a frantic search for the missing girl in the vicinity of their house, but in vain. They approached the local police who registered a case and began a search to trace her.
However, the body of the girl was found floating in a well on the periphery of Nambala village on Thursday, sources said. Police said a case of suspicious death has been registered and further investigation is in progress.
