In an initiative to support underprivileged women battling breast cancer, Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology (BHIO), in collaboration with Automotive Axle Ltd., has launched the ‘Naari Swasthi’ project to provide free breast cancer surgeries for 50 needy patients.
The project aims to fully fund the surgical treatment of breast cancer patients. Through this initiative, 50 women will receive surgical intervention, bringing hope to those unable to afford expensive treatment. Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers, with increasing incidence and high mortality rates often attributed to delayed diagnosis.
The disease needs multidisciplinary management, including surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and regular follow-up, according to a hospital release.
Nagaraja Gargeshwari, president and whole-time Director of Automotive Axle Ltd., said, “Through the Naari Swasthi project, we aim to support women from underprivileged backgrounds in their fight against breast cancer. This effort brings corporates, philanthropists, and well-wishers together to support breast cancer patients.”
Anjali Ajaikumar, executive director of BHIO, emphasised the importance of early detection and accessible treatment.
“Breast cancer cases are rising rapidly in India and late detection continues to be a major challenge. The Naari Swasthi project is a step towards promoting women’s health and ensuring equitable access to cancer care.”
