Nagapattinam MP V. Selvaraj has requested the Southern Railway to operate special trains between Chennai and Karaikal via Nagore in connection with the 469th annual Kandoori festival at the famous Nagore Dargah.
Mr. Selvaraj met Southern Railway General Manager R.N. Singh in Chennai a few days ago and handed over to him a memorandum containing this demand.
In the memorandum, Mr. Selvaraj said the dargah located in the Nagapattinam Parliamentary constituency attracts a large number of devotees from various places for the festival. The festival will be celebrated from November 21 to December 4.
The memorandum said the Nagapattinam District Collector conducted a meeting last month regarding the arrangements for the festival and requested the Southern Railway to operate special trains.
Mr. Selvaraj requested the Southern Railway General Manager to issue orders for the operation of special trains between Chennai and Karaikal from November 21 to December 4 with a few minutes halt at Nagore station during the festival days.
