Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has taken a major step to safeguard Wakf properties across the State by writing to the Union Government seeking an extension of the deadline for updating records on the Ummeed Portal. He said the extension is essential to ensure accurate documentation and the comprehensive protection of community-owned assets.

The Andhra Pradesh State Wakf Board has already prepared the digital data for more than 14,000 Wakf properties and is now getting ready to upload the details on the centralised platform. The initiative is part of a wider effort to prevent encroachments, establish legal clarity, and improve transparency in property management.

The government believes that digital integration will be key to resolving long-pending disputes, protecting mosques, dargahs and other Wakf institutions, and strengthening administrative accountability. The Chief Minister’s intervention is expected to speed up reforms and ensure that valuable Wakf assets are protected for future generations.

Officials added that Andhra Pradesh aims to become a model for transparent management of religious properties through close coordination with the Centre and fast implementation of digital systems, according to a press release.
