Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has laid out an ambitious plan to construct 17 lakh houses over the next three years, reinforcing the government’s commitment to its flagship “Housing for All” promise. This follows the recent completion of more than 3 lakh houses and successful mass house-warming ceremonies held across Andhra Pradesh.
During a review meeting with TIDCO and Housing Department officials on Friday, the Chief Minister emphasised that the housing programme must be executed with speed and precision. “We have already completed over 3 lakh homes. The momentum should not slow down. The Housing for All initiative must be fully accomplished by January 2029,” he said.
The coalition government aims to build approximately 20 lakh houses during its tenure. With more than 3 lakh already completed, Mr. Naidu directed officials to finish the remaining 17 lakh within three years. He ordered that mass house-warming ceremonies be organised once every three months and instructed officials to ensure that five lakh beneficiaries receive their house keys by the upcoming Ugadi festival.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of completing the ongoing beneficiary identification survey without delay. “Prepare a comprehensive list of eligible beneficiaries and display it village-wise. Only when people are satisfied will I be satisfied,” he said. He further directed officials to allot house sites to those seeking them and issue possession certificates to beneficiaries who already own land. Construction progress must be updated online for public transparency, he added.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to social inclusivity, Mr. Naidu announced an additional ₹50,000 financial aid for Muslim minority beneficiaries under the PMAY 1.0 scheme, which requires ₹90 crore for 18,000 families.
The Chief Minister also urged officials to pursue the release of ₹920 crore in pending NTR Rural Housing Scheme bills from 2014 to 2019, alleging they were withheld by the previous administration. He drew parallels with the earlier delays in NREGS payments, which were later streamlined and released.
Housing Minister K. Pardhasarathi and senior officials from TIDCO and the Housing Department attended the meeting.
