Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu on Monday urged linguists to coin new words in the Telugu language to replace the existing English words currently in use.
Mr. Naidu inaugurated a two-day national workshop on ‘Uniform Scientific and Technical Terminology for Indian Language’ organised by the Adikavi Nannaya University in collaboration with the Bharatiya Bhasha Samithi of the Ministry of Education.
Addressing the gathering of academicians, students and literary personalities here on the university campus, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu has stated; “One should continue to speak in their mother tongue. The command over the mother tongue will help learn other Indian languages”.
Addressing the gathering Mr. Naidu reiterated that President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, myself and former Chief Justice of India N.V.Ramana studied in their mother tongue. Many of those who occupy the country’s top administrative capacities also studied in their mother tongue”.
Mr. Naidu lauded the initiative of Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan for reprinting the ‘Suryarayandra’ dictionary. Nannaya University Vice-Chancellor Prof.S.Prasanna Sree stated that language was bound to change during the course time as it reflects the culture, traditions, and lifestyles of the respective period.
“The change in the language is inevitable due to changes in lifestyles and technological advances in daily life. The change of the language is clearly visible, particularly in the pronunciation of the words, said Ms. Prasanna Sree.
Books: Mr. Venkaiah Naidu and others released two books ; A Handbook of drug Addiction and the role of Enforcement by Retired DSP N. Bobbly and Dharani Putrulu by farmer Pulla China Satyanarayana. Telugu-Sanskrit Academy President R.D.Wilson, Bharatiya Bhasha Samithi Coordinator (Academics) K. Giridhar Rao and other academicians were present.
