Residents of Nallur village seeking bus services to their village submitted a petition to the District Collector K.J. Praveen Kumar here on Monday.
The petitioners said over 500 families were residing at Nallur village located near Madurai Airport.
More than 150 students studying in schools and colleges from the village travel daily to various parts of Madurai Corporation.
āGovernment buses once used to be coming to the village at least four times. But now, not even one bus comes at the correct time, and when asked about this, they simply cite vague reasons,ā the petitioners said.
A large number of students wait at the bus stop, relying on the 8 a.m. bus, but the bus either arrives late or leaves before 8 a.m., forcing the students to wait at the bus stop for more than an hour. Because of this, the students often missed classes in the morning.
āDue to the unavailability of bus service we have to pay ā¹30 for an autorickshaw to go to the bypass to board a bus there,ā they added.
