Residents of Tyagi Palaniswamy Nagar in Ward 23 of Tiruppur City Corporation have complained to the district administration that the names of 320 voters have been left out after the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) exercise.

In a complaint submitted to the District Collector Manish Naranaware, the residents questioned their omission from the voter list despite having participated in numerous elections for the last 30 years to elect representatives to Parliament, State Assembly, and Municipal Corporation.

The SIR exercise conducted based on 2002 voter list has shocked the residents, the petition submitted on behalf of the residents by CPI (Marxist) District Secretary C. Murthy said.

The residents said they had abided by the instruction of the Revenue Department to submit any two of the 13 documents specified by the Election Commission of India, and that the names removed from the voter list should be restored.

Right to Vote should be guaranteed to all individuals who were over 18 years of age, the petitioners insisted.
