Several estranged couples reconciled and decided to resume their married life during the National Lok Adalat in Koppal district on Saturday.
According to officials, 10 matrimonial cases were settled through mediation, with husbands and wives agreeing to resolve their differences. The settlements were achieved following counselling and guidance by mediators, advocates and judges. One of the notable cases involved a couple who had been living separately for the past 10 years but reunited on the advice of their respective lawyers, mediators and the presiding judge.
Apart from family disputes, many cases relating to insurance claims, water bills, bank loans, house tax, domestic violence, maintenance, cheque bounce, birth and death registrations, civil and criminal matters, motor vehicle accident claims and MMDR cases were also taken up
In courts across Koppal, Gangavati, Kushtagi, and Yelburga taluks, 6,764 cases were disposed of, out of a total of 8,613 listed on the day.
In pre-litigation matters relating to insurance, water charges, and motor accident claims, 72,591 cases were settled out of 79,305 taken up, involving a total settlement amount of ₹13.52 crore. Overall, 79,355 cases were disposed of, out of 87,918 taken up in a single day, with settlements amounting to ₹93.98 crore.
The Koppal District Legal Services Authority expressed its gratitude to the judges, advocates, litigants and mediator-advocates for their cooperation in achieving record settlements through amicable resolution during the Lok Adalat.
