YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy extended his greetings to the weavers on the National Weavers Day on Thursday.

He congratulated Lakka Srinivasulu (Tirupati) on receiving the Sant Kabir Award from President Droupadi Murmu, and Karnati Murali (Chirala) and Jajare Nagaraju (Ponduru) on receiving the National Handloom Awards.

Talking to X, he said, ā€œOur government deposited ₹24,000 annually without fail into the weavers’ bank accounts under Nethanna Nestham.ā€

ā€œThe YSRCPĀ government gave ₹969.77 crore towards Nethanna Nestham and ₹1,396.45 crore towards Nethanna Pension, cleared ₹468.84 crore dues to APCO, and created a record by disbursing ₹3,706.16 crore for the welfare of weavers,ā€ he added.

ā€œWe gave free power to the weavers and provided concessions to powerlooms. We also tied up with e-commerce agencies for online marketing of handloom to increase the revenue of weavers,ā€ he said.

The NDA government stopped all the welfare schemes and went back on its election promises, he alleged. ā€œIt failed to reimburse GST. To implement this, the government needs to spend ₹250 crore. There no provision in the two Budgets. It also failed to provide free power of up to 500 units for powerlooms and 200 units for handlooms, and 16 months have passed by,ā€ he alleged.

Though there was no rebate, the government increased power tariff to the tune of ₹19,000 crore. ā€œThere is only hype, and like all sections of people, weavers are also being cheated,ā€ he said.
