Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday launched a blistering attack on the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government, charging it with destroying the State’s development and indulging in “fake politics built on lies, deceit, and criminality.”
Addressing a public meeting at Peddannavaripalle village of Talupula mandal in Sri Sathya Sai district after disbursal of pensions under the NTR Bharosa scheme, Mr. Naidu reiterated the NDA government’s commitment to reconstructing the State through transparent governance, technology-driven administration, and welfare, focusing on the poor.
“The 94% strike rate in the 2024 elections shows people’s trust in our governance. After five years of destruction under the YSRCP term, we are rebuilding the State brick by brick,” Mr. Naidu said, adding that the government was determined to reach every beneficiary directly.
“The YSRCP government had deployed over 2.6 lakh volunteers to distribute pensions without transparency and politicised the system. In contrast, the NDA dispensation is delivering pensions at people’s doorstep promptly every month, without middlemen or manipulation,“ the Chief Minister said.
Viveka murder case
Mr. Naidu accused the YSRCP of being a “fake party run by criminals.” Referring to the gruesome murder of former MP Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, the Chief Minister alleged that attempts were made to frame him in the case.
“They washed the blood-stained room, destroyed evidence, and blamed me. Can such people call themselves politicians? Their very existence is fake. They have no right to do politics,” Mr. Naidu said.
Warning those trying to stoke caste and communal tensions of stern action, the Chief Minister said, “The YSRCP is spreading lies, staging drama, and playing with public sentiment every day. But we have CCTV footage, data, and facts. We will expose them all.”
‘Record welfare spending’
Observing that Andhra Pradesh was setting national records in welfare spending, having disbursed ₹50,764 crore so far under the pension scheme and allocating it ₹33,000 crore annually, the highest in India, Mr. Naidu said, “We are the only government that thinks of the poor every day, not just during elections.”
Referring to the devastation caused by Cyclone Montha, he said technology-based alerts could save many lives. The State suffered property losses of ₹5,244 crore and two fatalities, he added. “Our Ministers, MLAs, and officers worked on the ground round the clock. We have already sent a detailed report to the Centre seeking assistance,” the Chief Minister said.
Mr. Naidu said that Google had decided to set up a ₹1.33 lakh crore data centre in Visakhapatnam. Kia Motors’ earlier investment in Anantapur was also a result of the TDP’s governance record. “We are ensuring that every rupee of public money is spent wisely — not on corruption and propaganda, but on the people,” Mr. Naidu said.
Referring to the court awarding death penalty to the five accused in the murder of former Chittoor Mayor Anuradha and her husband, the Chief Minister said, “Justice may be delayed, but it will never be denied.”
Sathya Sai’s birth centenary
Mr. Naidu announced that the government would celebrate Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s centenary from November 13 to 23. He said Puttaparthi would be developed into a global spiritual hub. “We are reviving the works stalled by the previous YSRCP regime. When good governance returns, progress follows,” he said.
