Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday announced that a neo tidel park would be established in Pudukottai to provide job opportunities for youth in the Information Technology sector.

He was speaking at a government function organised near Keeranur.

Upgradation of Ponnamaravathy town panchayat into municipality and Gandarvakottai panchayat into town panchayat; renovation of important lakes in Aranthangi taluk at a cost of ₹15 cror; construction of a cold storage godown at a cost of ₹1.6 crore to benefit farmers of Keeramangalam area and construction of high-level bridges at Vilanur and Vadakadau panchayats at a cost of ₹10 crore were the other announcements.

Mr. Stalin said the new announcements for Pudukottai district would soon be implemented. Many schemes had been conceived and executed under the Dravida model of governance with a view to assisting the marginalised sections of society and uplifting those who were backward. Those in the opposition were jittery over the inauguration of new schemes and their expansion.

The DMK government had been executing the schemes for all sections of society without worrying about elections and votebank. The DMK government and the people of the State were on the same “wavelength” with the sole thought of development of Tamil Nadu

There were many who were spreading canards for their political gains and survival against the Dravida model government which had conceived pioneering schemes and made a great feat in economic development.

The Chief Minister inaugurated 577 works in the district completed at a cost of ₹223 crore besides unveiling the foundation for 103 works to be executed at a cost of ₹201.7 crore and distributed welfare assistance to the tune of ₹341.7 crore to 43,993 beneficiaries.
