Train enthusiasts on Saturday (November 8, 2025) received the new Vande Bharat Express between Ernakulam and Bengaluru with fanfare at the Coimbatore Railway Junction.

Functionaries and members of rail passenger associations, railway officials and the travelling public cheered and distributed sweets after the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Salem Railway Division, Panna Lal, flanked by Coimbatore Mayor R Ranganayaki, received the train on its arrival at 12.10 p.m.

The train service was virtually inaugurated earlier in the day by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The regular service of Train No: 26651/26652 KSR Bengaluru – Ernakulam – KSR Bengaluru will commence on November 11, Railway sources said.

The train will be operated for six days a week, except Wednesdays, with stoppages at Thrissur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode and Salem en route, with a journey time of eight hours and 40 minutes.

The travel duration from Coimbatore to Bengaluru is five hours and 30 minutes.

As per the regular timings, the train will depart at Bengaluru at 5.10 a.m. and reach Ernakulam at 1.50 p.m. In the return direction, the train will depart Ernakulam at 2.20 p.m. and reach Bengaluru at 11 p.m.

“The new train will suit Bengaluru-bound IT employees and businessmen in Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode and Salem,” he said.

More trains will be introduced once the infrastructure work for scaling up speed is carried out. Train route capacity will be decided based on demand, the DRM said.
