The Minister for Public Works Department (PWD), E.V. Velu, on Monday (November 10, 2025) said that newcomers to politics are in a hurry to become Chief Minister.

Mr. Velu, along with Tourism Minister R. Rajendran, participated in a meeting with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) booth agents. Later, they took part in a function in which more than 1,000 cadres from other parties joined DMK.

Speaking at these functions, Mr. Velu alleged that the Election Commission of India (ECI) was conducting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in a hurried manner.

The Chief Minister has announced a protest against SIR on Tuesday (November 11, 2025). All political parties that are against SIR should participate in the protest, he said. He added that the DMK booth agents should go along with the Booth Level Officers and ensure every eligible voter is on the list. For the next one month, the booth agents and other functionaries should be vigilant and work without rest. After the draft electoral roll is released in December, steps should be taken to add new voters, Mr. Velu said.

People foraying into politics want to become Chief Minister immediately. “They have only lust for power, unlike DMK which was founded to protect Tamil language and people. The aim of the Dravidian Model of governance is to improve the economic status of all sections of people,” Mr. Velu added.

Members of Parliament S.R. Sivalingam, T.M. Selvaganapathi, and DMK functionaries participated.
