The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has taken note of the condition of some forest land in south Delhi, which lacks proper fencing, warning boards for trespassers, and adequate tree plantation.
The green court has directed the Delhi government to secure the forest land with proper fencing or natural hedges.
āIn the course of hearing, videos of the forest land in question taken by the forest officials have been played before us and we have seen that the forest land, which is in possession of the Forest Department does not have requisite fencing, display boards warning the trespassers and adequate plantation of trees. Solid waste and construction, and demolition waste is also lying surrounding the forest land,ā the NGT said in an order dated November 11.
The court also ordered the authorities to remove the demolition waste and file a report about the action taken, budgetary allocations and timelines, within one month.
