Night raids, week-long drive lead to multiple arrests under anti-trafficking operations in Cyberabad

Thirty-eight sex workers and one transgender individual were arrested during night raids conducted by the Cyberabad Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) between November 22 and 28. In addition, 11 victims were rescued and 14 accused persons were arrested across four cases registered under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.

In one such case at KPHB, an accused was convicted by the Metropolitan Magistrate District Court in Kukatpally and sentenced to three years’ rigorous imprisonment with a fine of ₹300.

Meanwhile, Cyberabad She Teams conducted 167 decoy operations during the same period and held 67 persons in public places for indulging in indecent acts. While 86 petty cases were booked, the remaining individuals were counselled. The She Teams also received 22 complaints from women victims through various channels.

Centre for Development and Empowerment of Women family counselling centres facilitated efforts to restore harmony in domestic disputes, reuniting 29 couples during the week.

As part of awareness and community outreach efforts, AHTU and She Teams organised programmes across Cyberabad, engaging around 339 participants. They were sensitised on issues, including human and child trafficking, social media harassment, child marriages, stalking, cyber bullying, child labour and begging. Information on essential helplines such as Women Helpline 181, Child Helpline 1098, Dial 100 and Cyber Fraud Helpline 1930 was also shared.
