Nellore Municipal Corporation (NMC) has developed 30 out of the 44 parks located across Nellore City and Nellore Rural Constituencies as part of the city beautification programme. The works of the remaining 14 parks are underway.
Speaking to The Hindu, NMC Commissioner Y.O. Nandan said, “The municipal parks in the Nellore City constituency are being developed with ₹25 crore, including ₹20 crore from the contribution through corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds and ₹5 crore under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) funds and municipal general funds.”
“So far, 30 parks in the Nellore City constituency got the facelift, and the development of the rest 14 parks will be completed by the end of this month,” he said, adding that 29 parks in Nellore Rural constituency already got new look with compound walls and greenery at a cost of ₹7 crore during the first phase, and another 20 parks will be improved in the second phase very soon.
Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy has earlier initiated “Chandranna Parkula Baata” programme to develop the parks in his constituency. The NMC has further taken up the improvement works covering infrastructure, amenities, and maintenance under the city beautification programme.
The Commissioner on Thursday (November 06, 2025) visited Satyanarayanapuram Park, Zakir Hussain Nagar Park and Bangla Thota Parks in divisions 4, 7 and 9 respectively. He directed the staff to clear the roads leading to the parks, remove encroachments and keep them clean. He ordered the contractors to expedite the work.
