The Golden Jubilee celebrations of the New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) will witness initiation of several development projects worth nearly ₹1,500 crore in the presence of Union and State ministers on Thursday, November 13, at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Stadium in Panambur, Mangaluru.

NMPA Deputy Chairperson S. Shanthi told reporters here that Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi, Minister of State for MSME, Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje, Karnataka Minister for Ports and Fisheries Mankal S. Vaidya, Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament Captain Brijesh Chowta, former MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, and others will attend the programme.

A major attraction at the venue will be an exhibition hall showcasing NMPA’s 50-year journey of growth, service, and transformation, highlighting its key milestones, developmental projects and contributions to the maritime sector. In addition, an exhibition van portraying the port’s glorious five-decade journey will travel across the hinterland regions in the coming months to promote awareness about NMPA and its golden legacy, she said.

Port Deputy Conservator Captain Manoj Joshi was present.

Many projects

During the occasion, dignitaries will inaugurate the new building of the Mercantile Marine Department’s Mangaluru office, Srinivasa Port Hospital, four-lane concrete road from Kuri Katta Gate to Baikampady Tank Bund Road, KK Gate Truck Terminal with a parking facility for 300 trucks, Santoshimathaa Edible Oil Refinery, Aegis Vopak Oil/Gas Terminal, under-vehicle scanner for enhanced security at gates, SSPP Petro Products’ bitumen and edible oil storage, and Aegis Vopak multi-purpose storage termina. They will also lay foundation stones for many projects, including the GAIL Booster Pump for direct transfer of Paraxylene, a shelter over Rail Lines 1 and 2 at the Marshalling Yard, and an oil and gas facility at Plot No. 5. Further, they will rename KK Gate after Rani Abbakka.
