The organisers of the ‘Phool Walon Ki Sair’ festival on Wednesday wrote to Lieutenant-Governor V.K. Saxena claiming that they have not received an “official communication” from the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), days after the L-G office announced granting permission to conduct the festival at its traditional venue at Aam Bagh in Mehrauli.
The organisers of the centuries-old festival did not proceed with conducting the event, which was supposed to be held from November 2-8, after the DDA granted a “limited permission” and postponed it to March 2026.
In a letter submitted to Mr. Saxena, Usha Kumar, secretary of the Anjuman Sair-e-Gul Faroshan society that organises the festival, expressed gratitude for his intervention but said that “they have not received a formal communication from the Delhi Development Authority (DDA)”.
“We have come to know from newspapers that you [V.K. Saxena] have intervened in the matter and that DDA has given permission to use Aam Bagh for the event. We would like to express our gratitude to you for your intervention. But, so far, we have not received any official information in this regard,” Ms. Kumar wrote.
She added that despite being asked to meet the DDA vice chairman, the meeting did not materialise after multiple schedule changes on Wednesday.
