Purpose

The platform will serve as a bridge between communities and help strengthen the relationship between the people of Telangana and the Northeast Indian community, president Paparao Biyyala and vice president Gautam Sawang of the North-East Connect Association, said in a statement.

The founding members of this society come from distinguished backgrounds in public service, health, law, academia, sports, entrepreneurship, and well connected with the North Eastern States.

Mr. Biyyala, a former Policy Advisor to the Telangana Government, served as Home Secretary, Assam. Mr. Sawang, retired Director General of Police (DGP), Andhra Pradesh, was born in Assam, with roots in Arunachal Pradesh and raised in several North Eastern states.

K. Rajeswara Rao, an IAS officer of the Tripura Cadre, and Sridhar Muppidi, an entrepreneur working in Northeast, are also members and all have a deep and lifelong cultural bond with the region.

Other members include S. Sahariah, who hails from Assam and the founder Director of KIMS. Ajailiu Niumai, professor of Sociology, University of Hyderabad, from Manipur, and Stephen Sen, an accomplished lawyer based in Hyderabad.
