Speaker G. Prasad Kumar is learnt to have served notices afresh on the two BRS MLAs Danam Nagender and Kadiyam Srihari facing charges of defection to the ruling Congress party.
The two MLAs have not responded to the earlier petitions served by the Speaker who is chairing the Tribunal constituted under Tenth Schedule of the Constitution dealing with the Anti Defection Law. The Speaker asked the two MLAs to respond to the notices at the earliest in view of the deadline set by the Supreme Court to finalise the course of action into the disqualification petitions filed against 10 BRS legislators.
The two MLAs reportedly sought time for submission of their respective responses to the notices, but have not submitted them so far. Though the exact time frame set for the two MLAs to submit their affidavits is not known, sources said it could be less than a week as the Speaker had to commence hearings and complete the process within the deadline set by the apex court.
Meanwhile, the Tribunal headed by the Speaker on Thursday completed hearings pertaining to two BRS legislators – Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Arekapudi Gandhi. Advocates representing the two MLAs and those of the petitioners G. Jagdish Reddy and Kalvakuntla Sanjay made deposition relating to their respective stances before the Tribunal bringing the hearings to a close.
Two more MLAs Tellam Venkat Rao and M. Sanjay Kumar made their deposition before the Tribunal on Wednesday, bringing to an end the hearing pertaining to eight MLAs.
The Speaker reserved his verdict on the hearings, and is expected to communicate them before the deadline set by the Supreme Court.
