Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda on Friday called upon officers in the Revenue Department to work actively as the department deals largely with issues concerning farmers and economically weaker sections.

At a progress review meeting held at the Regional Commissioner’s office, the Minister instructed officials to speed up the disposal of pending court cases in the Revenue Department and digitisation of land records with a target of achieving 100% progress in file clearance.

Referring to the proposal to create new revenue villages, Mr. Byre Gowda said that 163 villages had been identified for the purpose. Of these, proposals for 129 villages had been submitted by the Deputy Commissioner, and final notifications have already been issued for 107 villages, the Minister stated. The remaining villages should be notified by the end of December, he added.

Reviewing pending ‘darakhastu podi’ (mutation) applications, the Minister directed officials to complete them at the earliest.

Mysuru district has 2,02,215 applications related to E-Pauti Khata (transfer of ownership after the death of landholders). Of these, 9,367 applications are pending at the village admistration level, 7,431 at the revenue inspector-level and other stages, while 4,185 applications have already been processed. An average of four legal heirs per case has been estimated and nearly 70% of the work can be expedited under the Pauti Abhiyana if monitored effectively, Mr. Byre Gowda noted.

The Minister said that all work handled from the village accountant level must be processed through the official online system (e-office). Measures will be taken to improve internet and software support wherever required, he added.

Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikant Reddy said that the district has a target of clearing 3,215 ‘darakhastu podi’ cases, and officials have been instructed to complete at least 2,000 of these by November 21. The meeting also reviewed pending cases in the courts of the Deputy Commissioner, sub-divisional magistrates, tahsildars, and special deputy commissioners.
