OCTOPUS conducts mock security drill at Simhachalam temple

A mock drill was organised at the Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Simhachalam to effectively deal with possible terrorist attacks. The mock drill, which was organised by the Organisation for Counter Terrorist Operations(OCTOPUS), began at 9 p.m. on Tuesday and continued till the early hours of Wednesday.

DSP Tirupataiah and Inspector Shivaji, who led the drill said: “The objective of the mock drill is to promote coordination among various security agencies and departments, and to ensure that all departments carry out their respective duties effectively in times of emergency.”. The temple security staff, city police, officials of the Revenue and Fire Departments, medical teams and other government departments participated.

The OCTOPUS officials were optimistic that the exercise would further strengthen the security system of the temple and enhance the preparedness of the security personnel to handle any emergency situation.
