The Kadur tahsildar has filed a complaint with the police against 11 government staff members in the Kadur taluk office on charges of sanctioning old-age pensions for 64 ineligible candidates, causing a loss to the tune of ₹9.03 lakh to the state exchequer. The accused had sanctioned pensions to people below the age of 60, violating the scheme’s criteria.

The accused are Shirastedar B.C. Kalmuradappa, Second Divisional Assistant P. Girish, Revenue Inspector P.R. Ravi Kumar, village accountants R. Hanumanthappa, T.M. Kavya, G.M. Kumara, K. Lingaraju, K.R. Ravi, S.M. Channabasayya., T.S. Nirmala, and Ravichandra S. Gogi. The Kadur police registered the case filed by tahsildar C.S. Poornima on charges of criminal breach of trust by a public servant and forgery.

Under the old-age pension scheme, people from families below the poverty line and aged above 60 are eligible for the pension. However, the accused sanctioned the benefit to people even in their mid-thirties, therefore misusing authority.

Deputy Commissioner of Chikkamagaluru Meena Nagaraj had suspended Kalmurudappa and ordered an inquiry after she received complaints about the irregularities. The inquiry found that 64 ineligible people had been sanctioned the scheme’s benefit, causing a loss to the tune of ₹9.03 lakh to the exchequer. Following instructions from the Deputy Commissioner, the Kadur tahsildar filed the complaint.
