One arrested on charges of assaulting doctor’s assistant

The Puttur Town Police arrested one person on charges of assaulting an assistant of a medical doctor in Puttur town on November 29.

The accused, identified as Ibrahim, was a resident of Bappalige near Puttur.

The complainant, Dr. Ramamohan, an ENT specialist running a clinic in Darbe, said the accused, who worked as a an attendant in a parking lot near his clinic, wanted an early appointment with the doctor on the same day for a patient known to him. However, Srikanth, the assistant, told the accused that he too has to follow the token system like other patients.

Enraged by this, the accused allegedly assaulted Srikanth, damaged clinic furniture, and created fear among other patients, Dr. Ramamohan said.

The Puttur Town Police have booked a case against the accused under different provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including criminal trespass, causing loss by mischief, intentional insult, and criminal intimidation, and Section 3(a) of Karnataka Prohibition of Violence against Medical Service Personnel and Damage to Property in Medicare Service Institutions Act, 2009. The investigation is under way.
