One dead, two injured as tanker lorry rams car

One person died and two others sustained serious injuries  after a speeding tanker lorry rammed a car in which they were travelling in Chetpet.

The police said three persons, Srinivasan, 33, his younger brother Vijay, 28, and their friend Kishore, 28, were passing Ega Theatre in their car early on Friday, when a tanker lorry from the opposite direction rammed the vehicle.

All three occupants of the car sustained grievous injuries.

Doctors said Vijay, who was admitted in a critical condition, died of injuries. Following the incident, the traffic police registered a case and arrested the tanker lorry driver, identified as Sankar, 47, from Thoothukudi district.
