The Thampanoor police have arrested one person in connection with an alleged investment fraud case which is suspected to have duped numerous investors across the State.
The police identified the person as Tara M., hailing from Nemom, who owns a financial company at Thycaud. She was apprehended from the airport in Bengaluru upon her arrival from abroad. She was arrested in a case, in which the firm duped one person of ₹7 lakh that was invested in various instalments towards a fixed deposit.
The second accused, K.T. Thomas, who is the managing director of the private firm, is absconding.
According to the police, the company offered gold loans and fixed deposit schemes. However, the investor had not received returns or repayments for over a year. The Kattakada police too have registered a case against the accused.
