A 37-year-old driver was killed and two others were seriously injured after the car they were travelling in crashed into a stationary truck near Maduranthakam on Thursday (September 4, 2025) night.Â
A senior police official from Chengalpattu district said the SUV was proceeding from Puducherry towards Chennai on GST Road with three persons on board, including the driver. The vehicle was speeding near Melvallampettai, close to Maduranthakam, and it crashed into a truck, which was loaded with M-sand and parked near a tea shop. In the accident, all three persons in the car — driver  V. Delvin Rex of Kanniyakumari, R. Logenthiran of Ambattur, and K. Palani of Gerugambakkam — sustained serious injuries.
Locals called an ambulance, which took them to the Government Chengalpattu Hospital. Delvin died on the way, and the others were admitted to the emergency ward and are in critical condition. The truck driver is absconding, the police said.
