A 23-year-old woman’s organs were donated after the doctors declared her brain being dead at Government Rajaji Hospital on Monday.
S. Murugeswari, 23, of Thirumayam in Pudukkottai district, on November 21, met with an accident while riding a two-wheeler near Kalaiyarkovil in Sivaganga.
As she suffered serious injuries, she was admitted to a private hospital in Madurai. From there, she was referred to GRH on Sunday for further treatment.
In this situation, on Monday morning, she was declared brain dead by the doctors at the hospital. Following the assent of the family, her organs were harvested.
While liver and two kidneys were donated to Kauvery hospital, Tiruchi, two corneas and the skin were used by GRH itself.
The GRH doctors and Pudukkottai district administration accorded State honours to the mortal remains of the organ donor.
