The Cyber Crime Division of the Greater Chennai Police (GCP) recovered more than ₹2 crore of the victims’ money from various online fraudsters in November.
The police said separate Cyber Crime Division had been established at all police stations to conduct dedicated investigations into complaints relating to cases of online fraud.
Amount returned
In November, the divisions recovered ₹2.04 crore and handed over the amount to the victims. The division operating at the GCP Commissioner’s Office alone recovered over ₹1 crore from 36 cyberfraud complaints.
So far this year, the Cyber Crime Divisions of the GCP have recovered a total of ₹24.92 crore.
People can register their complaints regarding online frauds on the 1930 helpline or file them online by visiting www.cybercrime.gov.in.
