Over 470 kg of gutkha seized, three held in Villupuram

The police seized 476 kg of gutkha and banned tobacco products, which were being smuggled in two cars, and arrested three persons at M.N. Kuppam near Kandamangalam on Wednesday.

Following a tip-off, a team was conducting vehicle checks at M.N. Kuppam when they intercepted two cars bearing the registration number of Rajasthan. After a search, the police personnel found 476 kg of gutkha packed in gunny bags in the vehicles and seized them.

The team arrested Vijayakumar, 44, of Telangana, Hakkim, 30, and Nilesh Kumar, 34, of Rajasthan. A case has been registered.
