AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Monday handed over a cheque for ₹10 lakh to the family of a cadre who died while on the way to the party’s public meeting in Gobichettipalayam on Sunday night.
A. Arjunan, 45, of Kondayampalayam in T.N. Palayam had reportedly fainted while walking on the road to the venue and was rushed to the Government Hospital in Gobichettipalayam. However, doctors said he had died of cardiac arrest. The incident occurred before the arrival of Mr. Palaniswami to the venue.
After the postmortem on Monday, the body was handed over to the relatives. Mr. Palaniswami visited the hospital to pay his respects to the cadre’s body and offered his condolences to the family. He announced the AIADMK would provide a solatium of ₹20 lakh to the family and handed over an initial cheque for ₹10 lakh to Arjunan’s mother.
