BHADRADRI KOTHAGUDEM/KARIMNAGAR
As many as six inter-State check posts and four inter-district check posts have been set up in Bhadradri Kothagudem district as part of an elaborate bandobust plan for the smooth conduct of the Gram Panchayat elections slated to be held in three phases on December 11, 14 and 17, 2025.
According to sources, 22 flying squads and six static surveillance teams comprising the personnel of the police and other government departments have been formed to ensure free and fair conduct of the Gram Panchayat elections in the district.
The tribal dominated district shares an inter-state border with both Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, filing of nominations for the first phase of the Gram Panchayat elections began on Thursday.
In Karimnagar district, a total of 92 nominations were filed for Sarpanch posts in the GPs going to polls in the first phase. As many as 86 nominations were filed for ward member posts in the district on the first day.
Karimnagar Police Commissioner Gaush Alam visited several nomination-filing centres in rural and neighbouring mandals on Thursday. He, along with Karimnagar Rural Assistant Commissioner of Police Vijaykumar, oversaw the bandobust arrangements.
