Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Monday undertook an extensive tour of Eluru district, inspecting rural development works and launching major temple infrastructure projects worth ₹8.7 crore.

As part of his visit, Mr. Pawan Kalyan inspected the newly-constructed ‘Magic Drain’ at I.S. Jagannathapuram, a cost-effective drainage innovation introduced under the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department to address wastewater issues in villages. Built at a cost of ₹77,173 under the MGNREGS scheme, the drain was completed in just three days.

Officials explained the three-layer filtration system, soak-pit mechanism, and long-term benefits such as reduced stagnation, prevention of mosquito breeding, and improved groundwater recharge. The Deputy Chief Minister expressed satisfaction and directed officials to scale up the system across other villages in phases.

Earlier in the day, he arrived at Rajavaram in Koyyalagudem mandal, where he was given a grand welcome by Ministers, MLAs, officials, and local residents. Villagers showered flowers as he walked through the streets, interacting directly with people and collecting their grievances.

Mr. Pawan Kalyan also inspected the Ponguturu-Lakkavaram road, recently repaired at a cost of ₹1.5 crore following complaints received during his previous visit. Expressing satisfaction, he said the government was committed to resolving rural infrastructure issues promptly.

Later, the Deputy Chief Minister visited the Sri Kanakavalli Sameta Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple at I.S. Jagannathapuram, where he performed special pujas and released the temple’s ‘Sthala Puranam’ book. He laid foundation stones for key projects such as the ₹3.5-crore ‘pradakshina mandapam’ and ₹3.7-crore approach road to the hill temple. He also handed over the documents for 30 acres of land allocated for temple expansion.

He thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Endowments Minister A. Ramanarayana Reddy for swiftly approving the required funds. The tour also saw participation from Civil Supplies Minister Nandendla Manohar, Government Whip Bolisetti Srinivas, MLAs, senior officials, and local representatives.
