A book titled Pink Power, authored by Dr. Rajesh Goud, Senior Surgical Oncologist and Robotic Surgeon at Yashoda Hospitals, was launched on Sunday (October 26) to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Telangana Women and Child Welfare Minister Seethakka and actor Sreeleela unveiled the book in the presence of Yashoda Group Managing Director G.S. Rao.
The book, written in simple and accessible language, aims to empower women with information on breast cancer screening, early warning signs, nutrition, exercise and holistic care during and after treatment. It will be available in multiple Indian languages.
Speaking at the launch, Minister Seethakka said breast cancer continues to be one of the most common cancers among women in India, accounting for nearly 27–32% of all cancers according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Cancer Registry Programme (NCRP). “More than half of Indian women are diagnosed only at stage 3 or 4, when treatment becomes far more difficult. The main reason for this is lack of awareness and timely detection. A resource like Pink Power will play an important role in helping women understand their bodies, recognise symptoms early and seek timely care,” she said.
Mr. G.S. Rao, Managing Director of Yashoda Group of Hospitals, said the Cancer Centre at Yashoda is equipped with the latest diagnostic and treatment technologies, including PET scan and MR Linac systems that can detect tumours less than a centimetre in size.
